At ASML, we believe in innovation that changes lives. But some lives begin with a fight. Heart defects are the number one cause of death in children under 15. Every year in the Netherlands, around 700 children undergo heart surgery, with nearly half operated on before their first birthday. These children—known as heart children—face a lifelong journey. Surgery may save their lives, but it doesn’t cure them. Heart children often live with: Heart failure Cardiac arrhythmias Brain damage And the emotional and physical toll of growing up with a chronic condition Their lives are filled with hospital visits, uncertainty, and limitations. But with more research, we can change this.
